While we don't have a date for the founding of Sheldon, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1906.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Sheldon had an population of 212 people. This is a decrease of 10.55% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 17.19% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sheldon had a population of 237 people. This makes Sheldon the county's 21st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 237 people, the population of Sheldon decreased 7.42% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 256 people).

Adding Sheldon to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Sheldon in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sheldon was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Sheldon post office opened in 1906.

We also found Sheldon on a map titled Shell Oil Road Map for Wisconsin (1956).
