So far, we found very little information about Wawawai. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Wawawai would have been located within present day Whitman County<2>.


The location of Wawawai has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Wawawai, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1885.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Wawawai is 740 feet [226 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Wawawai was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Adding Wawawai to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Wawawai in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Wawawai was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Wawawai post office opened in 1885.

We also found Wawawai in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
