Welcome to Cuthbert ...

So far, we found very little information about Cuthbert. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Cuthbert was located in the Texas Panhandle.

Cuthbert would have been located within present day Mitchell County<2>.


The location of Cuthbert has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Cuthbert, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1891.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Cuthbert is 2,250 feet [686 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Cuthbert is about ½ mile above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Cuthbert was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Cuthbert still existed, it would have been in the (325) area code.

Adding Cuthbert to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Cuthbert in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Cuthbert was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Cuthbert post office opened in 1891.

We also found Cuthbert in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
