Lubbock County was founded August 21, 1876. Lubbock was created by taking area from Bexar and Crosby Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Lubbock had a population of 311,087 people. This is an increase of 11.57% since the last Census (which gave a population of 278,831 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Lubbock represented 1.11% of the total population of Texas.
