Nameless is located in Jackson County<1>.



While we don't have a date for the founding of Nameless, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1886.

The origin (or the toponymy) of Nameless: Lore has it that the town couldn't agree on a name for itself. When the town sent their application for a post office, the name was left blank. When the application was processed, it was stamped as being 'Nameless' and the name stuck.

Nameless is 1,030 feet [314 m] above sea level.<2>.

Time Zone: Nameless lies in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel east from Nameless (for example, toward Sunbright), you will leave Central Time and cross into the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT).

We originally found mention of Nameless in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Nameless was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<5>

From that list, the Nameless post office opened in 1886.

We also found Nameless on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Tennessee (1888).
