At the time of the 2010 Census, McKenzie had a population of 5,310 people (or 18.62% of the total population of Carroll County). This makes McKenzie the county's most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 5,310 people, the population of McKenzie has remained roughly the same as the 2000 Census (which had a count of 5,295 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for McKenzie was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the McKenzie post office opened in 1866.

We also found McKenzie in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).
