Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Tripp had an population of 623 people. This is a decrease of 3.71% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 12.38% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Tripp had a population of 647 people (which is 8.81% of the total population of Hutchinson County). This makes Tripp the county's 3rd most populous community.

The population of Tripp represents 0.08% of the total population of South Dakota (which has 814,180 people), making it the state's 129th most populous community.
