While we don't have a date for the founding of Gerty, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1910.

Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Gerty had an population of 108 people. This is a decrease of 8.47% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 6.93% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Gerty had a population of 118 people. This makes Gerty the county's 9th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 118 people, the population of Gerty increased 16.83% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 101 people).

We originally found mention of Gerty in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Gerty was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Gerty post office opened in 1910.

We also found Gerty on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Oklahoma (1911).
