Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Wooster had an population of 26,413 people. This is an increase of 1.13% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 6.46% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Wooster had a population of 26,119 people (which is 22.81% of the total population of Wayne County). This makes Wooster the county's most populous community.

The population of Wooster represents 0.23% of the population of Ohio (which has 11,536,504 people), making it the state's 55th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 26,119 people, the population of Wooster increased 5.27% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 24,811 people).

We originally found mention of Wooster in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Wooster was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Wooster post office opened in 1812.

We also found Wooster in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
