The location of Sampson has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Sampson, you might consider that their post office opened in 1850. While the community is gone, the present day location for Sampson is 1,060 feet [323 m] above sea level.<4>.
