Welcome to Miner ...

So far, we found very little information about Miner. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Miner to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Miner - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Miner, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Miner , we believe that it would have been located within present day Franklin County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Miner, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1901.

Time Zone: The area where Miner was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Miner ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Ohio communities named Miner: This one is located in Franklin County and the other is located in Huron County.

Beyond Ohio, there are 7 communities that are also named Miner - they are located in Colorado, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

Adding Miner to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Miner was on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map (1901).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Miner, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Ohio's counties, including Franklin, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
