Welcome to Gallatin ...

So far, we found very little information about Gallatin. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Gallatin to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Gallatin - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Gallatin, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Gallatin , we believe that it would have been located within present day Allen County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Gallatin, you might consider that their post office opened in 1839.

Time Zone: The area where Gallatin was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Gallatin would have been located in the (419) and (567)<3> area codes.

Communities Also Named Gallatin ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 11 communities that are also named Gallatin - they are located in Arkansas, Mississippi, Missouri (2), Montana, New York, North Dakota, Pennsylvania (2), Tennessee and Texas.

We originally found mention of Gallatin in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Gallatin was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Gallatin post office opened in 1839.

We also found Gallatin in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
