While we don't have a date for the founding of Dewey, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1890.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Dewey is 1,070 feet [326 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Dewey was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

We originally found mention of Dewey in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Dewey was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Dewey post office opened in 1890.

We also found Dewey in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
