Auglaize County was founded February 14, 1848. Auglaize was created by taking area from Allen, Mercer, Darke, Hardin, Logan, Shelby and Van Wert Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Auglaize had a population of 45,610 people. This is a decrease of 0.74% since the last Census (which gave a population of 45,949 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Auglaize represented 0.4% of the total population of Ohio.
