At the time of the 2010 Census, Columbus had a population of 787,033 people (which is 67.65% of the total population of Franklin County). This makes Columbus the county's most populous community.

The population of Columbus represents 6.82% of the total population of Ohio (which has 11,536,504 people), making it the state's most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 787,033 people, the population of Columbus increased 10.62% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 711,470 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Columbus was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Columbus post office opened in 1813.
