Welcome to Shoshone (aka 'Shoshone Point') ...

So far, we found very little information about Shoshone. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Shoshone to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Shoshone, please Contact Us.


Shoshone would have been located within present day Eureka County<2>.


The location of Shoshone has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Shoshone, you might get a feel for it by knowing that during our research the earliest mention that we found (so far) was on a map dated 1883.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Shoshone is 4,630 feet [1,411 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Shoshone is about ¾ mile [or ~1½ km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Shoshone was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Shoshone still existed, it would have been in the (775) area code.

The community of Shoshone has also been called Shoshone Point.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Shoshone was on a map titled George#&160;F. Cram Map of Nevada (1883).

We also found Shoshone in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
