Welcome to Ora ...

So far, we found very little information about Ora. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Ora to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Ora - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Ora, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Ora , we believe that it would have been located within present day Washoe County<2>.

Ora was founded in 1898.

Time Zone: The area where Ora was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

Communities Also Named Ora ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 12 communities that are also named Ora - they are located in Alabama, California, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina (2), South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas and Virginia.

Adding Ora to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Ora was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Ora post office opened in 1898.
