So far, we found very little information about Jefferson. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Jefferson would have been located within present day Nye County<2>.



Jefferson was founded in 1866.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Jefferson is 7,700 feet [2,347 m] above sea level.<3> In other words, the altitude of Jefferson is about 1½ mile [or ~2¼ km] above sea level.

We originally found mention of Jefferson in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Jefferson was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Jefferson post office opened in 1874.
