Welcome to Aura ...

So far, we found very little information about Aura. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Aura to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Aura - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Aura, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Aura , we believe that it would have been located within present day Elko County<2>.

Aura was founded in 1869.

Time Zone: The area where Aura was located is in the Pacific Time Zone (PST/PDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Aura still existed, it would have been in the (775) area code.

Communities Also Named Aura ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 2 communities that are also named Aura - they are located in Michigan and New Jersey.

Adding Aura to Our Gazetteer ...

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Aura was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Aura post office opened in 1906.
