So far, we found very little information about Mogollon. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Mogollon would have been located within present day Catron County<2>.



The pronunciation of Mogollon: mug-ee-ohn<3>

While we don't have a date for the founding of Mogollon, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1890.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Mogollon is 6,610 feet [2,015 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the altitude of Mogollon is 1¼ mile [or 2 km] above sea level.

Time Zone: The area where Mogollon was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you leave Mogollon and travel west, you will soon leave Mountain Time and cross into the Mountain Standard Time Zone (MST). In addition, you will be moving from an area that observes daylight saving time to one that does not.

We originally found mention of Mogollon in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mogollon was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Mogollon post office opened in 1890.

We also found Mogollon in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
