From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for New Market was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the New Market post office opened in 1804.

We also found New Market in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
