At the time of the 2010 Census, Belmont had a population of 7,356 people (which is 12.24% of the total population of Belknap County). This makes Belmont the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Belmont represents 0.56% of the total population of New Hampshire (which has 1,316,470 people), making it the state's 41st most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 7,356 people, the population of Belmont increased 9.53% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 6,716 people).
