So far, we found very little information about Sedan. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>
We've added Sedan to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Sedan , we believe that it would have been located within present day Scotts Bluff County<2>.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Sedan, you might consider that their post office opened in 1891.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Nebraska communities named Sedan: This one is located in Scotts Bluff County and the other is located in Nuckolls County.
Beyond Nebraska, there are 15 communities that are also named Sedan - they are located in Alabama, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas (2), Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, New Mexico, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Texas and West Virginia.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Sedan was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>
From that list, the Sedan post office opened in 1891.
We also found Sedan on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
