Welcome to Pilot ...

So far, we found very little information about Pilot. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Pilot to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Pilot - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Pilot, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Pilot , we believe that it would have been located within present day Custer County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Pilot, you might consider that their post office opened in 1880.

Time Zone: The area where Pilot was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

Pilot would have been located in the (308) area code.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are 9 communities that are also named Pilot - they are located in Alaska, Illinois, Kentucky, Maryland, Nevada (2), North Carolina (2) and Virginia.

Adding Pilot to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Pilot was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Pilot post office opened in 1880.

We also found Pilot on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
