Welcome to Meridian ...So far, we found very little information about Meridian. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Meridian to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Meridian has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Meridian, you might consider that their post office opened in 1870. When the people of Meridian referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Meridianite<4> While the community is gone, the present day location for Meridian is 1,410 feet [430 m] above sea level.<5>. Time Zone: The area where Meridian was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time The location where Meridian once stood is in the (402) & (531)<6> area codes.
