The 2-Letter Postal Abbreviation / Code for Nebraska: NE

For a short while in 1963, the U.S. Postal Office recommended "NEB" as the abbreviation for Nebraska. Toward the end of 1963, the Post Office changed their recommendation to "NB". In 1969, they changed from "NB" to the currently used "NE" (this change was done to prevent confusion with the Canadian Province of New Brunswick, which has the abbreviation of "NB").
