So far, we found very little information about Hartman. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>
We've added Hartman to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Hartman , we believe that it would have been located within present day Deuel County<2>.
While we don't have a date for the founding of Hartman, you might consider that their post office opened in 1889.

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Nebraska communities named Hartman: This one is located in Deuel County and the other is located in Scotts Bluff County.
Beyond Nebraska, there are 16 communities that are also named Hartman - they are located in Arkansas, Colorado, Indiana, Maryland, Michigan (2), Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Texas, Utah and Wisconsin.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Hartman was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>
From that list, the Hartman post office opened in 1889.
We also found Hartman on a map titled Rand McNally Map of Nebraska (1895).
