Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Killdeer had an population of 1,144 people. This is an increase of 52.33% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 60.45% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Killdeer had a population of 751 people (which is 21.24% of the total population of Dunn County). This makes Killdeer the county's 2nd most populous community.

The population of Killdeer represents 0.11% of the population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 88th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 751 people, the population of Killdeer increased 5.33% from the 2000 Census (with a count of 713 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Killdeer was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Killdeer post office opened in 1915.
