Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Emerado had an population of 462 people. This is an increase of 11.59% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 9.41% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Emerado had a population of 414 people. This makes Emerado the county's 5th most populous community.

The population of Emerado represents 0.06% of the total population of North Dakota (which has 672,591 people), making it the state's 134th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 414 people, the population of Emerado decreased 18.82% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 510 people).

We originally found mention of Emerado in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Emerado was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<6>

From that list, the Emerado post office opened in 1885.

We also found Emerado on a map titled Rand McNally Map of North Dakota (1897).
