At the time of the 2010 Census, Oxford had a population of 8,461 people (or 14.12% of the total population of Granville County). This makes Oxford the county's most populous community.

The population of Oxford represents 0.09% of the population of North Carolina (which has 9,535,483 people), making it the state's 94th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 8,461 people, the population of Oxford increased 1.48% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 8,338 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Oxford was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Oxford post office opened in 1816.

We also found Oxford in the book titled U.S. Post Offices (Oct. 1846).
