Welcome to Selma ...So far, we found very little information about Selma. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Selma to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. The location of Selma has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Selma, you might consider that their post office opened in 1912. When the people of Selma referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Selmian<4> While the community is gone, the present day location for Selma is 3,130 feet [954 m] above sea level.<5> In other words, the elevation of Selma is about ½ mile above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Selma was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time If Selma still existed, it would have been in the (406) area code.
