The location of George has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of George, you might consider that their post office opened in 1913. While the community is gone, the present day location for George is 2,980 feet [908 m] above sea level.<4> In other words, the elevation of George is about ½ mile above sea level.
