At the time of the 2010 Census, Greenville had a population of 34,400 people (or 67.27% of the total population of Washington County). This makes Greenville the county's most populous community.

The population of Greenville represents 1.16% of the population of Mississippi (which has 2,967,297 people), making it the state's 8th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 34,400 people, the population of Greenville decreased 17.37% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 41,633 people).
