Welcome to Cloverdale ...

So far, we found very little information about Cloverdale. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Cloverdale to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Cloverdale - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Cloverdale, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Cloverdale , we believe that it would have been located within present day Benton County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Cloverdale, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1860.

Adding Cloverdale to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Cloverdale was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Cloverdale post office opened in 1860.

We also found Cloverdale in the book titled List of Post Offices in the United States (1870).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Cloverdale, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Missouri's counties, including Benton, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
