Welcome to Shell City ...

So far, we found very little information about Shell City. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Shell City to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Shell City - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Shell City, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Shell City , we believe that it would have been located within present day Wadena County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Shell City, you might consider that their post office opened in 1882.

Time Zone: The area where Shell City was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Shell City still existed, it would have been in the (218) area code.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Shell City was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Shell City post office opened in 1882.

We also found Shell City in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
