At the time of the 2010 Census, Mashpee had a population of 14,006 people (or 6.49% of the total population of Barnstable County). This makes Mashpee the county's 8th most populous community.

We originally found mention of Mashpee in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Mashpee was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Mashpee post office opened in 1871.

We also found Mashpee in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
