Henderson County was founded in 1798 and was created by taking area from Christian County.

From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Henderson had a population of 45,276 people. This is a decrease of 2.11% since the last Census (which gave a population of 46,250 people in 2010).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Henderson represented 1.07% of the total population of Kentucky.
