Welcome to Minneola (aka 'Bernard') ...

So far, we found very little information about Minneola. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Minneola to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Minneola - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Minneola, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Minneola <3>, we believe that it would have been located within present day Franklin County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Minneola, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1858.

Time Zone: The area where Minneola was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Minneola still existed, it would have been in the (785) area code.

The community of Minneola has also been called Bernard.

Communities Also Named Minneola ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Kansas communities named Minneola: This one is located in Franklin County and the other is located in Clark County.

Beyond Kansas, there are 7 communities that are also named Minneola - they are located in Arkansas, California (2), Florida (2) and Virginia.

Adding Minneola to Our Gazetteer ...

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Minneola was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Minneola post office opened in 1858.

We also found Minneola mentioned on a train schedule titled Trailways Santa Fe Bus Time Table (July 1945).

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Minneola, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Kansas' counties, including Franklin, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
