Welcome to Cedar ...

So far, we found very little information about Cedar. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Cedar to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Cedar - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Cedar, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Cedar , we believe that it would have been located within present day Wabaunsee County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Cedar, you might consider that their post office opened in 1862.

The location where Cedar once stood is in the (785) area code.

While we believe that this Cedar is located in Wabaunsee County, we know of another 4 Kansas communities named Cedar. Those communities are located in the following counties: Johnson, McPherson, Rooks and Smith County.

As we work on our Gazetteer, we occasionally find mention of a community that is new to us. When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future.

The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Cedar was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3>

From that list, the Cedar post office opened in 1862.
