Welcome to Cedar ...So far, we found very little information about Cedar. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Cedar to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Cedar - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Cedar, please Contact Us. While we don't have the exact location of Cedar , we believe that it would have been located within present day Wabaunsee County<2>. While we don't have a date for the founding of Cedar, you might consider that their post office opened in 1862. The location where Cedar once stood is in the (785) area code. Communities Also Named Cedar ...While we believe that this Cedar is located in Wabaunsee County, we know of another 4 Kansas communities named Cedar. Those communities are located in the following counties: Johnson, McPherson, Rooks and Smith County. Beyond Kansas, there are 35 communities that are also named Cedar - they are located in Arizona, British Columbia, California, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa (2), Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan (4), Minnesota, Montana, Nevada (3), North Carolina, Oklahoma (2), South Dakota, Texas (2), Utah, West Virginia (2) and Wisconsin (2). When we find such a community, we add it to our Gazetteer with the hope of adding more information in the future. The earliest source we've referenced which mentioned Cedar was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<3> For more details, see References and Mentions for Cedar.
