So far, we found very little information about Illiana. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Illiana would have been located within present day Edgar County<2>.
The location of Illiana has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>
While we don't have a date for the founding of Illiana, you might consider that their post office opened in 1874.
The origin (or the toponymy) of Illiana: The name Illiana is a portmanteau<4> and it reflects the fact that the community is immediately west of the Illinois and Indiana border.
While the community is gone, the present day location for Illiana is 630 feet [192 m] above sea level.<5>.
Time Zone: The area where Illiana was located is in the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT) and observes daylight saving time
Note: While Illiana is in the Central Time Zone, the area just to the east is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT).
If Illiana still existed, it would have been in the (217) area code.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Illiana was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>
From that list, the Illiana post office opened in 1874.
