Welcome to Willow ...

So far, we found very little information about Willow. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Willow would have been located within present day Lumpkin County<2>.


The location of Willow has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Willow, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1887.

From the 2010 Census (the most recent Census number we have), Willow had a population of 15,138 people.<4> (see below for details).

While the community is gone, the present day location for Willow is 1,480 feet [451 m] above sea level.<5>.

Time Zone: The area where Willow was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

If Willow still existed, it would have been in the (706) and (762)<6> area codes.

We originally found mention of Willow in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Willow was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<8>

From that list, the Willow post office opened in 1887.

We also found Willow in the book titled Business Atlas and Shippers' Guide (1895).
