The location of Tharpe has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Tharpe, you might consider that their post office opened in 1888. While the community is gone, the present day location for Tharpe is 420 feet [128 m] above sea level.<4>. Time Zone: The area where Tharpe was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time If Tharpe still existed, it would have been in the (478) area code.
