Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Sylvania had an population of 2,445 people. This is a decrease of 17.29% since the 2010 Census (or a decrease of 59.18% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Sylvania had a population of 2,956 people (or 20.26% of the total population of Screven County). This makes Sylvania the county's most populous community.

The population of Sylvania represents 0.03% of the total population of Georgia (which has 9,687,653 people), making it the state's 183rd most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 2,956 people, the population of Sylvania decreased 50.65% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 5,990 people).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Sylvania was in the book titled Table of U.S. Post Offices in the United States (Jan. 1851).

We also found Sylvania on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1855.
