Catoosa County was founded in 1853. Catoosa was created by taking area from Walker and Counties.

From the Census Estimates for 2009, <1> Catoosa had a population of 64,035 people. This is an increase of 20.18% since the last Census (which gave a population of 53,282 people in 2000).

At the time of the 2000 Census, Catoosa represented 0.65% of the total population of Georgia, making it the state's 36th most populous county (out of 159 counties).
