So far, we found very little information about Broomtown. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

Broomtown would have been located within present day Chattooga County<2>.


The location of Broomtown has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3>


While we don't have a date for the founding of Broomtown, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1847.

While the community is gone, the present day location for Broomtown is 730 feet [223 m] above sea level.<4>.

Time Zone: The area where Broomtown was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Note: If you travel west from Broomtown (for example, toward Valley Head (AL)), you will soon leave Eastern Time and cross into the Central Time Zone (CST/CDT).

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Broomtown was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Broomtown post office opened in 1847.

We also found Broomtown on a map (with an unknown title) dated 1855.
