The Commemorative Quarter for Florida

Welcome to Magnolia ...

So far, we found very little information about Magnolia. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1>

We've added Magnolia to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. We would especially like to find the location of Magnolia - knowing its coordinates, we can explore things like its relationship to neighboring communities, nearby cemeteries, etc. If you can help us with Magnolia, please Contact Us.

While we don't have the exact location of Magnolia , we believe that it would have been located within present day Wakulla County<2>.

While we don't have a date for the founding of Magnolia, you might consider that their post office opened  in 1827.

Time Zone: The area where Magnolia was located is in the Eastern Time Zone (EST/EDT) and observes daylight saving time

Magnolia would have been located in the (850) and (448)<3> area codes.

Communities Also Named Magnolia ...

Using our Gazetteer, we found that there are two Florida communities named Magnolia: This one is located in Wakulla County and the other is located in Clay County.

Adding Magnolia to Our Gazetteer ...

We originally found mention of Magnolia in the GNIS. For more information, see the Referenced GNIS Codes section on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Magnolia was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<4>

From that list, the Magnolia post office opened in 1827.

Footnotes ...

<1>We use the term 'Historic' broadly and it generally means that the community no longer exists. However, it can also mean that the community might still exist, but was significantly larger or had a more 'official' existence in the past than it does now. Unfortunately our sources of data have proven to be unreliable. If you can provide us with more specific information about Magnolia, please let us know so that we can improve our accuracy.
<2>If you're interested in how the shape of Florida's counties, including Wakulla, have changed over time, we recommend the Atlas of Historical County Boundaries.
<3>Area code (448) is an overlay for area code (850).
