Duval County was founded July 21, 1822 and was created by taking area from Saint Johns County. From the Census Estimates for 2019, <1> Duval had a population of 959,853 people. This is an increase of 11.06% since the last Census (which gave a population of 864,263 people in 2010). At the time of the 2010 Census, Duval represented 4.6% of the total population of Florida.
