Taken from the 2019 Census Estimates, Gilcrest had an population of 1,177 people. This is an increase of 13.83% since the 2010 Census (or an increase of 1.29% since the 2000 Census).

At the time of the 2010 Census, Gilcrest had a population of 1,034 people. This makes Gilcrest the county's 21st most populous community.

The population of Gilcrest represents 0.02% of the total population of Colorado (which has 5,029,196 people), making it the state's 140th most populous community.

With a 2010 count of 1,034 people, the population of Gilcrest decreased 11.02% from the 2000 Census (which had a count of 1,162 people).

We originally found mention of Gilcrest in both the FIPS-55 and the GNIS. For more information, see the FIPS and GNIS Codes sections on our Miscellaneous Page.

From our notes, the earliest published mention we've found for Gilcrest was in the document titled List of Post Offices from Cameron Blevins and Richard Helbock.<7>

From that list, the Gilcrest post office opened in 1907.

We also found Gilcrest mentioned on a train schedule titled Union Pacific Railroad Time Tables (September 1924).
