Welcome to Garo ...So far, we found very little information about Garo. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Garo to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. If you can help us with Garo, please Contact Us. Garo would have been located within present day Park County<2>. The location of Garo has been provided by the Geographic Names Information System (ie- the GNIS).<3> While we don't have a date for the founding of Garo, you might consider that their post office opened in 1880. From Place Names in Colorado,<4> the origin of Garo is described as "Named after a Frenchman named Guiraud. Uncertain about how to spell it, they did it phonetically." While the community is gone, the present day location for Garo is 9,190 feet [2,801 m] above sea level.<5> In other words, the elevation of Garo is 1¾ mile [or ~2¾ km] above sea level. Time Zone: The area where Garo was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time Communities near Garo ...We have created a list of 10 communities that are near Garo.
