Welcome to Decatur ...So far, we found very little information about Decatur. The little that we've found leads us believe that the community is historic.<1> We've added Decatur to our Gazetteer with the hope that we can develop more information. While we don't have the exact location of Decatur , we believe that it would have been located within present day Summit County<2>. While we don't have a date for the founding of Decatur, you might consider that their post office opened in 1879. When the people of Decatur referred to themselves (known as a demonym), they are believed to have used Decaturian<3> Time Zone: The area where Decatur was located is in the Mountain Time Zone (MST/MDT) and observes daylight saving time If Decatur still existed, it would have been in the (970) area code.
